Pastor Henry (Eric) Makau Maundu was instrumental in the Agape Ministry remaining in Nairobi for the third time. He was a man of character and of high principals and great faith mixed with Spiritual values.
He was a family man. He took care of his wife Pauline and through prayer and faith had his first born whom they called Gift, after his wife had two miscarriages.
Pastor Eric stood face to face to some leaders that were scamming our ministry and called them to confess their sin in the name of Jesus. For this he received a lot of grief. He wanted nothing to do with deceit; he only lived the truth.
Pastor Eric recommended new leaders and he became the right hand of the Agape Ministry in Kenya.
He volunteered with Rev. Sophia in the Havillah Home (orphanage) as a pastor to the children, before that he had worked as a lay person in a big church in Mombasa, Kenya.
Pastor Eric was the Agape Ministry treasurer and was very protective of our money which is God's money. He was doing all this in a volunteer basis for one year and this year (2010) he began to receive a small love offering.
Pastor Eric has left a legacy of truth, boldness and no tolerance for sin. He believed that our talk should be YES or NO and nothing in between. He knew how to call sin for its name and will not tolerate lies.
Before he took ill, we were making plans to buy land in Kitui for goats and to be able to employee a local person to care for the goats. This was part of a plan to employe locals and make money for evangelism. We had discuss the possibility of building a place for the Agape Ministry School Headquarters in Kitui.
I met his mother last year, we couldn't communicate because she does not speak English and I didn't speak her tribal language, but her love and hospitality made my day, just like her son had made our stay in Kenya a delight.
Pastor Eric will be missed in the Agape Ministry and by our personnel. This page is in his memory. As his son grows and as long as I run the ministry I will be putting updates about his family and pictures of Gift as I get them. I have very little heroes in this world, Pastor Eric is one of them.
Keep his family in prayers. For more pictures of Pastor Eric and his mother (don't have any of Gift and Pauline) please click on the PHOTOS button to your left on the navigation panel it will take you to his gallery (photo album).
Thank you our friend, our son and our helper; enjoy your new life in Christ. We will see you when we get to heaven. Meet us at the feet of Jesus.
